Sorry about the delay in posting, I was in Chicago visiting family and catching up with old friends. While I was there, I picked up a few par-baked, frozen pies at Lou Malnati’s Pizza, and I want to share a lil’ secret with the Mother Drucker devoted.

You can order two Lou’s packed in dry ice and delivered to your door almost anywhere in the continental U.S. for $55, OR, next time you’re in Chicago (and what better reason to go?), stop by and pick up frozen pizzas for around $9.95 each! There are only about a million Lou Malnati’s locations in the greater Chicagoland area to serve you, so you can pull this off like a pro no matter where you’re staying. Just ask them to wrap your pies in foil (to catch the condensation) and you’re good to go.

Yes, you have to carry them back to LA or Poughkeepsie or wherever you call home, and since they do thaw a little, I always get cheese or pepperoni instead of sausage. (Which is a shame, because the hubcap o’ sausage is a Chicago phenomenon not to be missed.)  When you get home, pop ’em in the freezer, bake and eat whenever you’re ready! In my experience, they are hardly the worse for wear — even the time United stranded me at O’Hare for 12 HOURS. But enough about me.

It’s a delicious bargain, no matter how you slice it.
